Beautiful Ebony is a loving and affectionate cat just entering her senior years and looking for a new place to call home after her previous family sadly lost their house to a wildfire this year and could no longer keep her. This gorgeous girl has a long coat that will need regular brushing to keep from getting tangled and it feels silky smooth when brushed. She'll certainly enjoy spending time with her person getting all the attention she deserves and will be a loving companion and great addition to a home. Ebony did have access to the outdoors in her previous home so may want some outdoor space but potentially could get used to being indoor only. She will need slow, proper introductions to any existing animals in the home and some time to adjust to a new home before she truly feels comfortable. A behaviour counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal. Please note due to the current COVID-19 pandemic our adoption process has changed. Please visit our website https://spca.bc.ca/adoption/how-to-adopt/ for more information. All adoptions are by appointment only once we have received an application.***Due to the high number of applications we receive for our animals, we will only be contacting potential adopters to further review their application. We are not able to call all applicants.***

Meet Gamora, the guardian of our...Kamloops BC SPCA shelter.Gamora came into our care as a stray, her finder concerned with her noticeable injuries from her previous battles. Gamora has shown us even though she looks tough, she certainly has a soft side. This tough cookie loves head scratches, and likes to show how much she likes people by giving them a big head butt right to the forehead. As she came into our care as a stray, it's hard to say how she would react to other animals in the home. In shelter she hasn't reacted negatively to other felines, but she would like to have a proper introduction to other animals. Are you ready to have your heart stolen by Gamora? An adoption counseling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal. Please note due to the current COVID-19 pandemic our adoption process has changed. Hyde, with his brother Jekyll, has been in our care for a few weeks. Both Jekyll and Hyde are social, and don't mind hanging with their humans. They are still learning manners, as it appears that they may have been fed through their cage bars before. But they are curious, and will come and greet you. These boys are bonded and need to go together. It is not unusual to find them in a cuddle puddle in one of their many hidey houses! These boys are still relatively young, they are clean, and are ready to learn as much as you are ready to teach them! Rats are social, trainable and so much fun!A behaviour counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal. Those have been treated, his brother never showed signs, and he is symptom free at this time. However, there is a possibility that in the future he could have another bout of infection, which would mean a trip to the very for antibiotics if the symptoms don't passA behaviour counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal. *Not a good match for first time dog owners* Kai is a BIG, beautiful boy inside and out but has had little training. This overgrown friendly puppy is learning to sit and not to jump up but needs someone patient and who doesn't mind continuing with his training. Kai is a bundle of playful energy that could easily knock small children over and take his person for the walk. We don't recommend him to a home with small dogs or animals but so far Kai has done well with other dogs his own size. He loves having company and can be vocal when left alone. So he needs an adopter that is prepared to work on this with him. He seems to love everyone and would do great with an active home or family with older children that have time to exercise and play with him and give him lots of love. A behaviour counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal to help ensure success in the new home. *Due to the high number of Applications we receive for our animals, we will only be contacting potential adopters to further review their application.**In order to protect the health of our staff, volunteers and members of the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, we've made changes to our adoption process.1.
