Say hello to Cobbler! While her story didn't have the happiest of starts, we are looking to find her happily ever after. She came to us extremely under socialized and lacking many of the life skills a dog of her age should have. She has come a long way in the short while she has been with us, and she will certainly continue to blossom with patience, love, and gentle training. Once she has had some time to adjust to a new environment, Cobbler opens up and shows her outgoing, excited, and playful personality. She is just now discovering the joys of toys and play, and is very interested in making new doggie friends!
Cobbler is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable home - being as under socialized as she is, she will require a lot of patience, training, and an understanding of dog body language and cues. Due to her history, she shows a lot of anxiety and fearfulness and can be easily spooked. It is extremely important that any potential adopter understands this kind of behavioural challenge and is prepared and informed. She needs some help with house training and leash training, but she is learning and improving every day! If you think Cobbler could be a good fit for you please contact the Kamloops branch with any further questions or fill out an application below.

Meet Wiggum, a charming and lovable feline companion ready to bring joy and warmth to your home. Coming to the SPCA as a stray, we don't have much information on his background. He was extremely overweight and very matted when he arrived. Luckily, Wiggum is a sweetheart with a gentle demeanor and he allowed staff to give him a nice shave but his adopters may need to help him keep nicely brushed and groomed until he can lose some weight. Wiggum may be a little nervous at first in a new environment but adjusts quickly and will soon be exploring. With time and patience in a new home, he is a very loving companion. He enjoys curling up on the coziest spots, seeking warmth and companionship and is quite the lap cat. His purring is a soothing melody that can instantly lift your spirits and make any day brighter. There's a lot of Wiggum to love and he has started a diet plan to help him slim down. Adopters should be prepared to help Wiggum work towards a healthier weight.

If you're ready to welcome a charming and affectionate feline into your home, consider giving Wiggum the forever home he deserves. Adopting Wiggum means adding a touch of elegance, playfulness, and unconditional love to your life. We don't know how he would do with children or other animals so proper, slow introductions would be important. He has shown some aggression to other cats so may be best as the only feline in the home. He also may do best in a bit of a quieter home without really young kids but older kids would be fine. Wiggum will make a great addition to the right home.

**Wiggum is currently recovering from dental surgery and is not quite ready to be adopted but foster to adopt may be an option for local adopters while he awaits his recheck.

Can you offer this big boy the fur-ever home he is searching for? Here are some ways to find out:

1. Visit our centre to meet this pet, learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person; or
2. Submit an online application https://spca.bc.ca/survey/cat-adoption-application-kamloops and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit!

**Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions, we will only be contacting potential adopters to further review their interest. We are not able to contact all applicants.**

This gorgeous, fluffy feline is looking for a quiet home ideally with another playful cat friend to show her the ways and help bring her out of her shell. She can be shy and skittish initially and may be easily spooked by loud noises and lots of action, so a home without young children would be best. Once she's adjusted in her home she can be a very sweet, purr machine who loves pets and attention. She is an extremely playful and curious young cat. As she starts to trust her people soon you may wake up with her purring on your chest or jumping on your feet under the bed covers. She has lots of energy and can be mischievous. Duke

Duke

Male
Rhodesian Ridgeback Cross

Colour: Tan / Brown
Animal ID: 587366

Email: [email protected]

Address: 2816 Tranquille Road
Despite his large size, Duke is a gentle big boy with a heart full of love. He adores human companionship and thrives on affection, often leaning into his humans for cuddles and belly rubs. Duke is happiest when he's curled up on the couch next to his favorite person. He has a calm and easygoing demeanor, making him a joy to be around.
Don't let his age fool you, besides enjoying long naps and cuddle sessions on the couch, Duke is an active pooch who loves daily walks and outdoor adventures. Whether it's exploring the neighborhood, hiking out on the trails, or splashing around at the beach, Duke is always up for an adventure. He's also very playful and loves his stuffed toys AND STICKS! The bigger the stick the better!
While Duke is generally friendly with other dogs and has lived in a multi pet home, proper introductions are key to ensuring positive interactions. With slow introductions, Duke has shown good manners and enjoys the company of canine friends.
Although Duke's interactions with cats haven't been formally tested in shelter, he reportedly has a lived with them previously and likes cats, but will require slow introductions to new felines in a home as he sometimes gets excited and likes to chase smaller animals. Squirrel!
As Duke enters his golden years, like many senior dogs he is showing arthritic changes and some stiffness. Like any senior animal he should have regular vet check ups to monitor his health and mobility needs. He may potentially require management with medication in the future and a home without a lot of stairs would probably be best since he's a big boy. Duke remains resilient and eager to live life to the fullest.
Duke's ideal home is one filled with love, patience, and plenty of snuggle sessions. He would thrive in a calm and stable environment where he can receive the attention and affection he craves. A family willing to provide him with regular exercise, mental stimulation, and proper medical care would be perfect for Duke. Additionally, a cozy bed where he can sleep beside his humans at night would make him truly content. This sweet senior is an absolute joy to have in your home! Dog savvy older children would likely be fine with Duke but really young kids who jump all over him isn't his cup of tea.
Overall, Duke is a remarkable dog with so much love to give. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate companion to share your life with, Duke may be the perfect match for you.
**DUKE IS CURRENTLY AWAITING A DENTAL SURGERY AND IS NOT ABLE TO BE ADOPTED JUST YET BUT LOCAL ADOPTERS CAN POTENTIALLY DO A FOSTER TO ADOPT WHILE HE AWAITS HIS SURGERY**

If you think Duke could be a good fit for you please contact the kamloops branch with any further questions or fill out an application below.

Taffy is a very affectionate lap cat looking for her chance at having a fur-ever loving home. She is looking for a new lap to curl up on where she can get all the love she demands. This senior lady would love to curl up with you on the couch for long cuddle sessions full of purrs. She enjoys pets and being brushed. She has a long coat that needs regular brushing to keep it free of tangles. She also loves her treats. New environments can make Taffy very unsettled and she may lash out at in situations where she feels unsafe and scared. Potential adopters would have to be experienced with cats and able to show Taffy a little patience while she adjusts to her new home. Once she's comfortable she is an absolute love.

Taffy would do best in a quieter home with no young children as she can get sassy when her limits are pushed too far and if she's displeased. Taffy is looking for a cat savvy guardian that will love her and her sweet sometimes sassy personality. Taffy isn't too fond of feline companions, and we believe she would do best in a home without any other cats. We're not sure if she could get used to dogs or not.

**Taffy is not yet ready to be adopted just yet as she is recovering from a dental surgery but soon will be ready to go home.

Meet Venom, a sweet and affectionate feline with a heart as big as his striking name suggests. This handsome boy was surrendered to us due to urinary issues, and our compassionate team is determined to find him the perfect forever home. Venom has a gentle disposition, but he does tend to be a bit anxious, making a calm and safe environment essential for his well-being. His health requires special attention, as stress can trigger his cystitis, leading to possible issues with inappropriate urination. To ensure his optimal health, Venom thrives in a steady and quiet pace, and should be kept on a diet of urinary food.

His luxurious long coat adds to his charm but demands regular brushing and upkeep. If you're ready to provide this loving soul with the serene and caring home he deserves, Venom is waiting to become your new furry companion. He would do best in a quiet home with no kids or loud noises. He likes being around people who are calm and quiet. Astro is a big, friendly, and social rabbit who loves attention and will make a great addition to any family. He loves to show off his impressive size by stretching out during his naps. He also enjoys playing with toys, digging, and rearranging his enclosure. He is good with being handled and petted, but he is still pretty nervous of being picked up. He is a very laid-back guy and will happily sit next to you, napping for hours.

Astro enjoys all sorts of toys and really loves getting fresh veggies. He has a friendly disposition and may be able to live with other animals with proper introductions. He's done great with the dog in his foster home. A home with kids who are aware of proper handling would be fine. He likes to have attention as much as possible and will enjoy having people around who can spoil him because he deserves it. He is doing well at litter box training and is a fairly tidy guy.
