Green eyed cutie, Sitka, is ready to find his purr-fect match!Sitka came into our care as a young stray, under socialized, unsure of life and people. After going into one of our loving foster homes, Sitka has become much braver. He is ready to find a family to love, and a family that will love him just as much! Sitka can still be quite shy and uncertain at first, so he would do best in a quiet cat savvy home that can continue to help build his confidence and socialization. Don't let this shy side fool you, though he may run away at first, once you've introduced yourself and he's gotten to know you he is a bundle of purrs and just wants to have a cuddle. He's also very playful. Since he is nervous and easily spooked it is recommended he be indoor only and go to a home without any young children. Sitka has shown a lot of interest in other cats while in shelter, and would likely be happiest with a feline friend to show him the ropes. His foster says he may also be able to get used to a well behaved dog. Of course, it is imperative to do slow introductions to ensure both cats are comfortable with each other first.Adopting a kitten is a big decision (and life long commitment to the cat!). Before taking the plunge, it is a good idea to research costs, training and socializing techniques etc. and should include all members of the family. The time it takes in the beginning more than pays itself back when your uncontrolled mass of energy grows to be an invaluable and loving member of the family. Will you be the one to bring this shy guy out of his shell?***In order to protect the health of our staff, volunteers and membersof the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, we've made changes to ouradoption process.1. Do you like a chatty and playful boys? Well Lunar might be the kitten for you! He is an affectionate, talkative young man that enjoys following you around to tell you about his day, and demanding head and chin scratches at any opportunity. Lunar LOVES other cats, maybe too much, and is extremely playful so we think he would love to have a feline friend in his new fur-ever home. However we've noticed that Lunar doesn't have good play manners and seems to be very rough, wrestle, and bite at the other cat quite a bit. Another cat would have to be very playful and easygoing to put up with this rambunctious fellow. He has endless energy. Proper, slow introductions would be important with any new animals. Lunar could be fine as the only cat but it would be important to give him lots of things to do in the house like climbing scratching posts and playing with his person and toys. Also because of his feisty, playful side small children may not be the ideal housemate for him since fingers could get nipped. Otherwise he is definitely very loving and affectionate with his people.Lunar was having accidents around his previous home and with testing the vet found some crystals and high urine concentration. Because he is prone to this he needs to stay on either a good quality wet food only diet or a special dry and wet urinary prescription food. This will hopefully prevent issues in the future like a urinary blockage so diet is VERY important. It is also important to keep up with regular yearly vet checks as with any animal to keep him happy and healthy. This active, playful little trouble maker will certainly add some entertainment to your home!An adoption counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.***In order to protect the health of our staff, volunteers and members of the public during the COVID-19 pandemic, we've made changes to our adoption process.1. Carlos is a special, slightly cross-eyed, gentle soul looking for an amazing guardian(s) to spoil him after he's experienced so much pain in his young life, someone who can take care of his medical needs. This sweet, shy guy prefers a quiet home without any kids running around as he's easily startled and scared. With love, patience, lots of pets, and time to adjust in a new home Carlos will relax and show his cuddly affectionate side. He is all about the head boops to show his love and will happily curl up on your chest in the morning to convince you to stay in bed longer purring noisily. He also has a tendency to fully flop at your feet for body rubs. Carlos has been in a foster home with both a cat and a large dog and is fine living with both as long as they are calm and gentle and don't overwhelm him. Proper, slow introductions are important for success. He likes to play, tossing his toys around at times but also loves curling up in his cat bed or on the back of the couch looking out the window. With his crinkled whiskers and cute eyes you can tell Carlos is a character and is a lovely companion. When Carlos came in to the SPCA as a stray he was in terrible condition due to an undiagnosed autoimmune disease, Plasma Cell Stomatitis. His disease basically made his body allergic to plaque and tartar on his teeth. Being allergic to his own teeth caused horrible, painful inflammation that became so bad he developed infected ulcers and could barely eat. He was severely underweight when he came in and very badly matted from not being able to groom. Living on the street only made things worse with no one to look out for this poor guy. It's been a long, challenging road to recovery but he's almost there. Carlos had to have major dental surgery pulling out all but 2 of his teeth. It is possible these also may need to come out in the future but cleaning them regularly will help. He's gained weight back and got a new haircut and is feeling a whole lot better thanks to the surgery and medication he's on to control his disease. It takes time to fine tune the medication and an adopter will need to be prepared to work closely with their vet to manage this disease for life. With proper care he can live a long and happy life but needs an adopter who is not phased by increased vet care and the cost of medicating. For his care he should be indoor only. Carlos has been through so much in his few years and hopes there is that special someone out there who can now show him the love and care he deserves. To find out more about Carlos and his care contact the shelter today!**CARLOS IS NOT READY TO GO HOME JUST YET AS HE UNDERGOES CARE BUT APPROVED ADOPTERS CAN POTENTIALLY MEET OR DO A ZOOM MEETING
