Say hello to Butterscotch!

While her story didn't have the happiest of starts, we are looking to find her happily ever after. Butterscotch came to us from a large group of dogs who were all extremely under socialized and lacking many of the life skills a dog of her age should have. She has come a long way in the short while she has been with us, and she will certainly continue to blossom with patience, love, and gentle training. Once she has had some time to adjust to a new environment and feels safe, Butterscotch opens up and is a sweet, playful girl.

Butterscotch is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable home - being as under socialized as she is, she will require a lot of patience, training, and an understanding of dog body language and cues. She is not suited for a loud or busy home, a home with small children, puppies, or other animals. She has plenty of experience living with other dogs so a calm, confident K9 companion may help her settle into a home. Butterscotch has been through a lot in her five years, so what she needs most in life is a stable and calm home.

Due to her history, she shows a lot of anxiety and fearfulness and can be easily spooked. It is extremely important that any potential adopter understands this kind of behavioural challenge and is prepared and informed. She needs some help with house training and leash training, but she is learning and improving every day! If you think Butterscotch could be a good fit for you, please contact the Kamloops branch with any further questions or fill out an application below.

Hamsters don't often come to mind when thinking of a rescue pet, but even little guys like Timbit need love. Timbit came to us from a loving family who had to move away and was unable to bring him with. Like most hamsters who are nocturnal, this little guy sleeps a lot during the day. However, he does enjoy rolling around in his little exercise ball sometimes and he loves running in his exercise wheel. He is gentle and easy to handle. His favorite thing to do is burrow deep down into his pile of fluff and make a nice, cozy nest for himself. He is a fairly quiet guy just looking for a home to call his own. Adopters should show knowledge of proper Hamster care and set up so Timbit can have a good diet and plenty of enrichment to keep him happy and healthy.

Does Timbit sound like the pet for you? To apply, please fill out an application form below and send to [email protected] along with a picture of your intended set up. As with all small animals and reptiles, we strongly encourage potential adopters to do some research on the individual needs of their new family member.

Have you met Pancake? This striking bunny captivates all who meet him with an irresistible charm. Pancake exudes an air of elegance and poise wherever he goes. Yet, beneath his refined exterior lies a mischievous spirit, always ready to embark on new adventures and explore the world around him with boundless curiosity.

Pancake came from a home with many, many cats and children and because of this, he can be particular about who he hangs out with and how he's handled - and he's not afraid to let you know when his boundaries have been crossed! Whether it's where he's getting scratches or how his enclosure is arranged - he's not afraid to make his opinion known. Pancake needs an experienced home with no young children, as he can get easily overstimulated, but older rabbit-savvy children may get along with him great!

In the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him, Pancake leaves an indelible impression, forever cherished as a beloved companion and friend.

Meet Gizmo and Ebony, a dynamic duo of sisterly love waiting for a place to call home. Gizmo is a little more sweet and shy, while Ebony is more outgoing but does have a spicy side to her. These pretty sisters are often found cuddled near each other and are looking for a family that will embrace them both with open arms. Whether they're chasing each other around the house or snuggled up together for a cozy nap, Gizmo and Ebony promise to fill your home with double the love and double the joy. Bring these sweet sisters into your life, and let their endless affection light up your days. They can be a bit anxious in new environments and will need some love, a patient hand, and time to adjust in their new home. They are used to being indoor only cats and have lived with other cats and a dog before so would likely be fine in a multi-pet home with proper, slow introductions. Because they are a bit anxious and Ebony can be sassy they would do best in a home without young children.
Gizmo is a bit overweight and would benefit from a good diet to help her slim down a bit. She also was born missing some toes on her front paws. Due to this she has developed cutaneous horns on her front paws that do need to be maintained with regular trimming at home just like her regular nails. SPCA staff can give more information.
Adopt Gizmo and Ebony today, and welcome a lifetime of feline companionship into your heart.

If you are interested in adopting these two, follow these steps:

Meet Gizmo and Ebony, a dynamic duo of sisterly love waiting for a place to call home. Ebony is the more outgoing of the pair but does have a spicy side to her. She will certainly let you know with a bit of a swat if you're doing something that displeases her but she also really loves attention and can be affectionate. These inseparable siblings are often found next to each other and share a bond that's as strong as steel. They're searching for a family that will embrace them both with open arms so they can stay together. Meet Wiggum, a charming and lovable feline companion ready to bring joy and warmth to your home. Coming to the SPCA as a stray, we don't have much information on his background. He was extremely overweight and very matted when he arrived. Luckily, Wiggum is a sweetheart with a gentle demeanor and he allowed staff to give him a nice shave but his adopters may need to help him keep nicely brushed and groomed until he can lose some weight. Wiggum may be a little nervous at first in a new environment but adjusts quickly and will soon be exploring. With time and patience in a new home, he is a very loving companion. He enjoys curling up on the coziest spots, seeking warmth and companionship and is quite the lap cat. His purring is a soothing melody that can instantly lift your spirits and make any day brighter. There's a lot of Wiggum to love and he has started a diet plan to help him slim down. Adopters should be prepared to help Wiggum work towards a healthier weight.

If you're ready to welcome a charming and affectionate feline into your home, consider giving Wiggum the forever home he deserves. Adopting Wiggum means adding a touch of elegance, playfulness, and unconditional love to your life. We don't know how he would do with children or other animals so proper, slow introductions would be important. He has shown some aggression to other cats so may be best as the only feline in the home. He also may do best in a bit of a quieter home without really young kids but older kids would be fine. Wiggum will make a great addition to the right home.

Introducing BB, a delightful 5-year-old tortishell in search of a loving forever home. This quiet girl brings a special kind of magic to any household lucky enough to welcome her. BB may take some time and patience to fully emerge from her shell. Once she trusts you, she's a purr-machine and loves to soak up as much love as she can from the comfort of your lap.

To ensure her happiness, BB is seeking a calm and quiet home without young children, allowing her the serene environment she needs. Duke

Duke

Male
Rhodesian Ridgeback Cross
10Yrs 2Mths
Colour: Tan / Brown
Animal ID: 587366
Kamloops BC SPCA
Email: [email protected]
Phone: 250-376-7722
Address: 2816 Tranquille Road
Despite his large size, Duke is a gentle big boy with a heart full of love. He adores human companionship and thrives on affection, often leaning into his humans for cuddles and belly rubs. Duke is happiest when he's curled up on the couch next to his favorite person. He has a calm and easygoing demeanor, making him a joy to be around.
Don't let his age fool you, besides enjoying long naps and cuddle sessions on the couch, Duke is an active pooch who loves daily walks and outdoor adventures. Whether it's exploring the neighborhood, hiking out on the trails, or splashing around at the beach, Duke is always up for an adventure. He's also very playful and loves his stuffed toys AND STICKS! The bigger the stick the better!
While Duke is generally friendly with other dogs and has lived in a multi pet home, proper introductions are key to ensuring positive interactions. With slow introductions, Duke has shown good manners and enjoys the company of canine friends.
Although Duke's interactions with cats haven't been formally tested in shelter, he reportedly has a lived with them previously and likes cats, but will require slow introductions to new felines in a home as he sometimes gets excited and likes to chase smaller animals. Squirrel!
As Duke enters his golden years, like many senior dogs he is showing arthritic changes and some stiffness. Like any senior animal he should have regular vet check ups to monitor his health and mobility needs. He may potentially require management with medication in the future and a home without a lot of stairs would probably be best since he's a big boy. Duke remains resilient and eager to live life to the fullest.
Duke's ideal home is one filled with love, patience, and plenty of snuggle sessions. He would thrive in a calm and stable environment where he can receive the attention and affection he craves. A family willing to provide him with regular exercise, mental stimulation, and proper medical care would be perfect for Duke. Additionally, a cozy bed where he can sleep beside his humans at night would make him truly content. This sweet senior is an absolute joy to have in your home! Dog savvy older children would likely be fine with Duke but really young kids who jump all over him isn't his cup of tea.
Overall, Duke is a remarkable dog with so much love to give. If you're looking for a loyal and affectionate companion to share your life with, Duke may be the perfect match for you.
