Hamsters don't often come to mind when thinking of a rescue pet, but even little guys like Einstein need love. Einstein was found on someone's porch step curled up in a ball looking a little rough and in need of love. They immediately brought him to the SPCA for care. Einstein looks much better after some food, water and a clean place to rest. Like most hamsters who are nocturnal, Einstein sleeps a lot during the day. However, he does enjoy rolling around in his little exercise ball sometimes or run in his exercise wheel. He is gentle and easy to handle. His favorite thing to do is burrow deep down into his pile of fluff and make a nice, cozy nest for himself. He is a fairly quiet guy just looking for a home to call his own. Adopters should show knowledge of proper Hamster care and set up so Einstein can have a good diet and plenty of enrichment to keep him happy and healthy.

Lago came into the BC SPCA with many other cats and kittens, we are unsure of who the mom was for this little guy and his 3 siblings. They're now looking for their chance at a fur-ever home. This cute kitten is very sweet and friendly and has a lot of love to share. This sweetheart is very playful and has lots of energy, so adopters will need to make playtime a priority, and plan to kitten-proof their homes. We're certain that with the right family, Lago will make a wonderful companion! He could probably live with kids and other animals with proper slow introductions as long as they respect his boundaries.

Nana came from a home with multiple cats and kittens when they became too numerous for their owner to properly care for. Nana has very matronly personality and loved to look after the young kittens in the home. She has been great with other cats and would do well in a home with feline friends. However, she is not afraid to put them (especially the boys!) in their place if she feels they are stepping out of line.
Nana has had several litters of kittens in the past and his currently recuperating from her spay surgery which is a little more involved than a spay for a young cat with no previous pregnancies. Nana has been active and eating well and is recovering wonderfully. She has been on kennel rest to make sure she heals up okay but she is still up for visitors! Nana is a very friendly girl who enjoys meeting new people. She would be okay with older kids who know how to be respectful of cats and read their body language.
An adoption counseling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.
Is Nana the cat you're looking for? Here are some ways to find out:
1. Visit our center to meet this pet, learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person; or
2. Submit an online application https://spca.bc.ca/survey/cat-adoption-application-kamloops and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit!
Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions, we will only be contacting potential adopters to further review their interest. We are not able to contact all applicants.

Hal was brought in after living on the streets for awhile. He was not used to people and was very reluctant to be touched at first. Hal started to come around and would occasionally enjoy some petting and affection but he can change his mind very quickly and lash out if he is overstimulated. He has been relaxing more and more, especially now that he has a larger space to himself and doesn't feel confined.
Hal is a guy who know what he wants, which usually involves food and treats. Its the fastest way to this guys' heart! He really doesn't like his things to be moved around a lot and wants his own space to hide when necessary. Hal can be quite loving when he's comfortable but he would do best in a home with someone who is familiar with cats and knows how to handle a big, temperamental boy like Hal. Due to fighting with other cats in the past, he is FiV positive which means he will need to be indoor only. Kids and other animals would not be ideal for Hal.
An adoption counseling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.

Eeyore is shy at first but she is very sweet once you get to know her. She got her name because she is a manx so she has no real tail, just a little nub! When she first arrived, Eeyore was very anxious and seemed a little down. However, after a few days she perked up and got used to the new environment. That was when her true colours started to show and we could see what a sweet, gentle girl she is.
Eeyore has been around other cats and would so well in a home with feline friends. A confident buddy may help her feel more at ease over time. Eeyore came to us from a home with multiple cats and kittens that became too much for their owner to properly care for. She has a lovely personality and enjoys affection but she spooks easily so sudden movements and loud noises may make her bolt. Because of that we would suggest she be indoor only. A quiet home with no children would be the best fit for Eeyore.
An adoption counseling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.

LOOKING FOR AN EXPERIENCED DOG GUARDIAN.
Macaroon and her 2 sisters came to us from a breeding situation that did not go as their former human had planned. The dogs had spent their lives in an outdoor enclosure without much exposure or socialization to strangers or other animals. To them, that pen and those people were the whole world... but that flipped on end when they arrived at the shelter.
Macaroon is the most nervous out of the 3, she will take time but in the right home and with some patience we can tell she will become a loving loyal companion.
The change has been very scary for these three; collars & leashes, traffic, doorways & flooring, new dogs barking and strange people in their space (especially if they try and touch them) has all been a new experience and we want to make sure that every interaction they have is as positive as possible so that they keep wanting to have more of them!
Interested adopters will need to be prepared and experienced with dog socialization and working with fearful dogs. They will need a patient and quiet adult-oriented home with a securely fenced yard. These are not dogs for a first time dog owner.
It will be a slow process, but we are seeing positive changes daily and know they will develop even faster once in a home environment. After a few days of bonding with the team here, we have them eating treats, seeking pets, and wanting to play and zoom with us!

It will be a slow process, but we are seeing positive changes daily and know they will develop even faster once in a home environment. After a few days of bonding with the team here, we have them eating treats, seeking pets, and wanting to play and zoom with us!

This happy face belongs to ZOE!
She is looking for a new best friend to have lots of fun and adventures with. She can be a little nervous when she first meets you, but she warms up very quickly - especially if you throw her ball. She loves to go for walks and would make an excellent hiking and camping buddy!
Though Zoe has lived with other dogs in the past, she would prefer to be the only dog. She requires slow and proper introductions to other dogs, and isn't a huge fan of dogs that come on strong or rough. Unfortunately, no cat friends for Zoe, because she loves a good game of chase.
If you feel Zoe is a good fit into your life, the first step to adoption is filling out the adoption application.

This sweet girl is looking for an experienced home that will be patient with her as she continues to learn that life isn't all that scary! It has been a slow process, but we are already noticing huge changes! Eclair is becoming a lot more comfortable and is excited to see and play with staff and volunteers. Her leash manners are improving daily!
Éclair and her 2 sisters came to us from a breeding situation that did not go as their former human had planned. The dogs had spent their lives in an outdoor enclosure without much exposure or socialization to strangers or other animals. To them, that pen and those people were the whole world... but that flipped on end when they arrived at the shelter.

Spirit is an outgoing, friendly, and generally sweet boy who loves to play and get attention. He was surrendered to the SPCA after an unfortunate one time incident of aggression in his previous home which staff can give more information on to potential adopters.
Up until the incident Spirit had been a very loving cat with no history of aggression. Since he has been with us he has also shown no aggression other than some hissing when he was scared at first. In his new home he will hopefully continue to be the loving, sweet guy he is. Spirit previously lived with another cat and small dog and may be okay with other animals after a very slow and careful introduction. He can be hissy at first with new cats. He may also really enjoy being the only pet. Spirit needs to be a strictly indoor only cat and go to a home without any children. In the right home he will be a wonderful companion.
For the most part, Spirit enjoys attention and likes to rub up against people. He can be playful and loves to show off how he can roll over. Spirit is looking for a quiet, cat savvy home to call his own. If you think Spirit is the cat for you, submit an online application https://spca.bc.ca/survey/cat-adoption-application-kamloops and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit!
An adoption counseling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.
Kindly note that due to the high number of applications and the availability of walk-in adoptions, we will only be contacting potential adopters to further review their interest. We are not able to contact all applicants.

Marvin is a super social bunny who loves attention and will make a great addition to any family. He loves to show off his agility by running around in his tunnels and jumping up on his perches. Of course Marvin always has a little time to get a nap in too. He is good with being handled and petted. He is a very curious little guy and will be right at your side (or climbing on you!) to see what you're up to.
Marvin enjoys all sorts of toys and really loves getting fresh veggies. He has a friendly disposition and may be able to live with other animals that have bunny experience. A home with kids who are aware of proper handling would be fine with Marvin as he has actually lived with kids before. He likes to have attention as much as possible and will enjoy having people around who can spoil him because he deserves it.
If Marvin sounds like the guy for you, please fill out an application through the link below and provide photos of your intended set up to [email protected]

Greg came into the BC SPCA with his mom Ruby and his 5 siblings, they're looking for their chance at a fur-ever home. Being the biggest of his siblings, he is a gentle giant. He has the biggest purr and loves to play, He's always curious with new toys and isn't shy about just jumping right on in! He loves to have pets and is very content to just lay in your lap after a good long nap and get all the love. This sweetheart is very playful and has lots of energy, so adopters will need to make playtime a priority, and plan to kitten-proof their homes. We're certain that with the right family, Eric will make a wonderful companion! He could probably live with kids and other animals with proper slow introductions as long as they respect his boundaries.
Adopting a kitten is a lifetime commitment for a lifetime of love and care.

Syrah came to the Quesnel BC SPCA as a stray and transferred to Kamloops through our Drive for Lives program to find her forever home.
Syrah is a sweet lady who loves pets and cuddles. She isn't super vocal, but she loves company from her humans. She loves to nap anywhere there's a sunny spot, and loves to play. We're not sure how Syrah would do with other animals. Proper, slow introductions would be very important with any resident animals and children. She would probably be fine with calm, cat savvy children who are respectful.
An adoption counseling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.
Do you think you could be Syrah's person? Here are some ways to find out:
1. Visit our centre to meet this pet, learn more about their ideal match and apply to adopt in person; or
