Two men shot to death

UPDATE 1:03 p.m.

Kamloops RCMP have confirmed two men found shot earlier today are dead and the shooting incidents are now classified as homicide deaths.

“Currently we have numerous police resources, both uniform and plain clothes officers investigating both incidents. Given that both shootings happened within two hours of each other and in public places, we are asking the public to remain vigilant and mindful of any suspicious activity they may see in the community and report it to police,” stated Cpl. Jodi Shelkie.

“If you have any information regarding these incidents please contact Kamloops RCMP or if you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers.”


ORIGINAL: 9:45 a.m.

Kamloops RCMP were called to a pair of shootings Wednesday morning, but it is not known if they are related.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie at 6:50 a.m. Kamloops RCMP were called to the Super 8 Hotel in Valleyview for a man lying on the ground.

“It appears that the male had been shot,” said Shelkie. “The male was transported to a local medical facility.”

Then at 8:50 a.m., police were called to Comfort Inn and Suites on Rogers Way for another male who appeared to have been shot.

He was also transported to hospital.

“The situation is very dynamic at this time. It is unknown if these two incidents are related,” said Shelkie. “No suspects have been identified. No arrests have been made.”

Some roads are closed near these crime scenes while police conduct their investigation.
