Two articles on Castanet recently drew my attention:
The first, on April 5th, was a report by the BC Centre for Disease Control which listed several flights that had been carrying passengers infected with COVID-19. Other passengers in affected seating were advised to self-isolate for 14 days after arriving back from the flight. The dates of those flights ranged from March 9 to March 26. The more observant amongst us will realize that the information was more than a little too late. Let us hope that none of those passengers ended up infecting anyone else.
The second, on April 7th entitled "Self-isolation shrugged off", reports cases of people returning from flights who may possibly be infected, but fail to self-isolate. Apparently appeals to the RCMP, CBSA, politicians and provincial health authorities for advice on what to do about these people all came to nothing.
Bonnie Henry, who is supposed to be overseeing it all had this to say: " It’s complicated and operationalizing (sic) it is not a simple thing.”
Apparently it is too complicated for Ms. Henry to explain, so that doesn't really fill the rest of us with hope does it? Or maybe she doesn't know?
If we survive this thing, as 99.9% of us will, it will be despite our various levels of government, not because of them.
