Extra qualifying spots at Ironman Canada for world championships

Ironman still going ahead

The Ironman Canada event scheduled for Aug. 30 in Penticton is still a go.

While many of the events on the Ironman championship schedule have been moved to later in the summer, the organization is still planning for an event in Penticton the final weekend of August.

Penticton Ironman participants will now have a chance at over 60 qualification slots to the 2020 Ironman World Championship, since the qualifying window has been extended from Aug. 23 to Aug. 30.

Ironman races that have been postponed from an earlier date in the 2020 season and are rescheduled to take place on or before Au. 30 will remain in the 2020 Ironman World Championship qualifying season. Events that have been postponed to take place after Aug. 30 will move to the 2021 IRONMAN World Championship qualifying season.

Additionally, the Legacy Program has been allocated additional slots for 2020, providing every eligible waitlisted Legacy athlete the ability to race in the 2020 Ironman World Championship.
