West Kelowna man charges in Sicamous cannabis grow-op robbery

Charged in grow-op robbery

Following a police manhunt Tuesday, a West Kelowna man is facing four criminal charges for allegedly robbing a legal cannabis grow operation in Sicamous earlier that morning.

Police were called to the licensed medical cannabis grow operation Tuesday just before 4 a.m. for a report of an armed robbery. A property representative of the operation had attended the site when an alarm had been triggered, and came upon the robbery in progress.

“A shot was allegedly fired towards the property representative during an ensuing confrontation,” Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey said Monday. “The victim was uninjured during the incident.”

The suspects were later spotted in the Enderby area, and with the help of the Emergency Response Team, a man was arrested in the Mabel Lake area. Police believe two other suspects were able to get away in a white hatchback.

On Wednesday, four charges were laid against 31-year-old Jeremy Andrew Aiken, including robbery with a firearm, flight from police, and two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000.

Aiken remains in custody, and his bail hearing is scheduled for April 17.

Police have asked anyone with information about the robbery, or the location of the other two suspects, to contact them the Sicamous RCMP at 250-836-2878.
