Dr. Bonnie Henry provides an update on B.C.'s COVID-19 situation

34 new cases, 2 deaths

With no new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Interior Health region Thursday, there have been just two new cases in the region since Saturday. 

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced 34 new cases of the virus across British Columbia, bringing the total positive tests in the province to 1,370. Of these, 130 are in the IH region. 

Two more people have died from the virus, in the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions, bringing the total deaths in B.C. to 50. 

With 858 patients having fully recovered, there are now 462 active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

There remains ten cases in the Interior Health region that currently require hospitalization. Province-wide, 132 COVID-19 patients are in hospital, 68 of whom are in critical care. 

Another outbreak at a Lower Mainland long-term seniors care home has been declared over, bringing the active care home outbreaks in B.C. to 20. Of the total cases, 235 patients stem from these 20 care home outbreaks, including 143 residents and 92 staff.
