Vernon Farmers' Market back for season, starting next week

Farmers' market set to return

The Vernon Farmers' Market is set to return next Monday – with measures in place in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The market will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kal Tire Place parking lot.

"All market staff, farmers and producers are dedicated to adhering to health and safety standards, and providing safe and reliable access to nutritious foods necessary to a healthy community," organizers say on the market's website.

"We are actively making operational and procedural changes to protect customers, farmers, and staff, and to mitigate the spread of disease, including following all guidance provided by the government ... We ask for your patience this year, especially the first few markets, as we iron out the kinks."

Organizers ask only those in good health to come to the market and to wash hands at provided wash stations.

Only touch what you will be buying, and regulate your own social distancing and lineup spacing markings

It is advised to wash all produce purchased before consuming.

The market will be limited to 50 people at a time, including vendors.

Organizers are also working on an online order process for pick up.

Food sampling is suspended, and there will be additional space between stalls.

While food is considered an essential service, crafters and other market events are postponed until further notice.
