Grads deserve more

I am a graduate  of Rutland Senior Secondary 1977.

This year my granddaughter graduates from RSS. I was so excited that she was graduating from my high school. These are our 9-11 babies, they gave us all hope for the future.

After 13 years of hard work, COVID has taken away something that they have worked so hard for.

It's one thing to cancel prom, but now they are doing a virtual diploma ceremony. This is so pathetic! If Orchard Park can open, skate board parks, restaurants, West Kelowna can figure out how to have a public hearing, surely there is away that the principal can find a way to acknowledge these young adults accomplishments.

The school has large fields, there is a hockey rink next door, surely there is something that the principal can do.

If there was a desire to do this, I am sure that there is a safe way, with social distancing, to have some kind of a ceremony for them to receive their diplomas in person.

After all, they are opening up the schools, so let's figure this out.

They are our future, they deserve more.
