West Kelowna Estates water notice now an advisory

Water notice downgraded

The City of West Kelowna has downgraded a boil water notice for the West Kelowna Estates water system.

The notice has been lowered to a boil water advisory as conditions at the Okanagan Lake intake improve.

While conditions are improving, the city says the water advisory will be in place while turbidity remains higher than normal due to spring freshet and related conditions in the lake.

Under a water quality advisory children, the elderly and people with weakened immunity must use water brought to a rolling boil for one minute or more, or seek an alternative safe source for brushing teeth, drinking, making baby formula and ice, preparing food and beverages and washing fruits and vegetables.

A safe source of water is available at the bulk filling station at Shannon Lake and Asquith Roads. The water is free throughout the duration of the water quality advisory.
