BC announces 13 new coronavirus cases, no deaths

13 new cases, no deaths

The provincial government Friday announced 13 new coronavirus cases, one of which came in the Interior Health region.

The new cases bring the province’s total to 2,947 confirmed cases. Six previously reported have been removed from the total after they were identified as residents of another province.

There are currently 162 active COVID-19 cases in B.C. with 19 people hospitalized and two in intensive care.

The single case in the Interior Health region brings the area's total to 202 with just two active cases. There were no new deaths reported Friday.

"There have been no new health-care facility outbreaks and the outbreak at Langley Lodge has been declared over. In total, three long-term care or assisted-living facilities and one acute-care facility have active outbreaks,” said provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.

"While cases continue to occur in B.C., there are no active community outbreaks."

"We encourage British Columbians to show compassion and care to those around us. This is our opportunity to demonstrate how we can all stay safe this summer.”
