Osoyoos RCMP say rollover crash Friday was a rear-ender

Rollover from rear-ender

A crash on Highway 97 that briefly closed the road Friday was caused by a woman who rear ended one of the vehicles, according to RCMP.

On July 3 at 3:50 p.m., a 38-year old woman from Penticton was driving a GMC dump truck towing a dump trailer northbound on the highway when she did not notice traffic had stopped, and slammed into a Jeep Wrangler.

The Jeep flipped across the highway into the south bound lane, hitting a Ford F-150 towing an RV, which then struck a telephone pole.

The 18-year-old female driver of the Jeep, also from Penticton, was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the dump truck, the driver of the Ford and all other passengers were uninjured.

All three vehicles sustained significant damage.

The driver of the dump truck was issued a violation ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act of BC.
