Body of Wayne Orser, 73, found on Okanagan Lake

Missing senior's body found

RCMP have recovered the body of a man who went missing on Okanagan Lake last week.

Wayne Orser, 73, was last seen at his home on the North Westside, and it is believed he had gone paddleboarding.

His board was found in the reeds at the north end of the lake, but there was no sign of the senior.

Vernon RCMP Cpl. Tania Finn says an area resident was kayaking on the north end of Okanagan Lake this morning when they discovered human remains floating offshore.

The RCMP Southeast District Underwater Recovery Team attended the area and retrieved the body of a man in his 70s.

RCMP and the BC Coroners Service have positively identified the remains as Orser, who had been reported as a missing person to police on June 30.

Orser’s family has been notified.

“There is no evidence of criminality being involved in Mr. Orser’s death at this time,” said Finn.

“The BC Coroners Service is also conducting an independent and concurrent fact-finding investigation to determine how, where, when and by what means he came to his unexpected death."
