A heartfelt thank you

On June 17, I was out shopping with my previously injured husband when I suffered extreme dizziness and fell in front of IGA in Winfield.

Luckily for me, there was a nurse and her two young boys right behind me. She and another lady who were going shopping stopped to help me. The boys put my groceries into the van, and the nurse even helped me over to the bakery.

Her boys carried my purchase over to the van. I never did get her name, but she was most kind and helpful to a total stranger. It was really appreciated.

Later, after we got home, I had some complications that turned out to be problems with my heart rate. Paramedics arrived very quickly and got me to the hospital.

They were very kind and helpful and would not leave me until I was safely in the hands of the ambulance triage department. I was immediately mainstreamed for blood tests and cardio testing and then transferred into emergency triage.

The nurses, doctors and lab staff there tended to me quickly, all with extreme kindness and caring.

The following morning, after seeing the resident cardiologist, I was released.

This handful of people changed and possibly saved my life. I just wanted to thank them all publicly for what they did for me. You just never know when you are going to need a medical professional, but it is so comforting to know that some of the best in Canada reside right here.

I would also like to thank our neighbours, family and friends who have been so kind and helpful. It is greatly appreciated.

J. Smith
