Camping changes panned

I am not alone in my concerns about our provincial campsites.

There are many seniors like myself and my husband who as of this season are are no longer considered seniors.

Senior rates do not apply to us this summer; we have to pay double what we pay the rest of the year.

You want us to help fund the slow times, but are not giving us any consideration during the prime time.

We enjoy camping all season long, are residents of the province, live on a fixed incomes, why restrict our enjoyment of the beautiful camping areas we have?

All the provincial campsites are now reservation only – is that really fair? And to top it off, there is a reservation fee of $6 which goes to the U.S. reservation company.

We were camping in a provincial campsite in Clearwater recently. We got a double site, as we were with family, and had two units. Because we were family, we were allowed. The others had to leave, and we decided to stay a couple days longer. We were told that we had to pay for the double site, even though we only had one spot.

They said we were taking it up, so we had to pay.

Please give us senior rates all year long and do not restrict camping to reservations only. You are going to find people camping everywhere they should not be!

We put a lot of money into our province, live here, love our province, and want to continue enjoying it!

Donna Meek, Kamloops
