Surrey night rave added to COVID exposure warning list

Rave exposure warning

A recent multi-day event in Surrey's Whalley area has been added to Fraser Health's list of potential COVID-19 public exposure locations.

The "Royals Jerk Spot Weekend Summer Fest Day and Night Rave Endorsed by Royals Beauty" took place July 31 through Aug. 2.

Specifically, Fraser Health has indicated that exposures would have happened from 10 p.m. on July 31 to 2 a.m. on Aug. 1, and 10 p.m. on Aug. 1 through 2 a.m. on Aug. 2.

The venue, called Royals Jerk Spot, is a pop-up style gathering that is known for offering Jamaican jerk BBQ and live DJs. The event is hosted by and at Royals Beauty Supply at 13553 105a Ave. in Surrey.

Anyone who may have been at this venue at those times is asked to self-isolate and monitor for symptoms, and to obtain COVID-19 testing if needed.

Over the weekend, neighbouring health authority Vancouver Coastal Health issued COVID-19 exposure warnings for a pair of venues in Yaletown.

The health authority is warning anyone who visited West Oak Restaurant or Pierre's Champagne Lounge from July 31 to Aug. 3 during "evening or late night hours" to be on the lookout for any possible symptoms of COVID-19 for 14 days following their visit.
