Police called after dispute on Westside Road

Dispute draws police

UPDATE: 9:05 p.m.

A dispute between two cannabis dispensaries on Westside Road boiled over Thursday afternoon.

Over a dozen officers were at the scene after one of the shop owners notified police that the owner of the other shop was acting hostile on their property, one of the parties involved told Castanet.

The owner who called the police alleges that the other owner grabbed her forcefully, while one of her relatives was struck by one of their trucks and was bear maced.

The dispute was allegedly over the lent trailer the shop uses as its retail space, which the other party wanted back. Materials from the shop were being removed from the trailer after the police left the scene, and the owner says they will be operating their shop outside until they find a suitable replacement.

Castanet News has opted to not name either party involved, for now, because reporters have only to spoken with one side of the dispute. RCMP has not yet commented on the situation.

UPDATE 4:55 p.m.

The police incident has now concluded.

The RCMP was called as a result of a dispute between two cannabis shops in the area, according to one of the owners involved.

More to come...

ORIGINAL 4:20 p.m.

There's a large police presence on a property at Westside and Komasket roads on Okanagan Indian Band lands.

A Castanet reader says numerous police vehicles and as many as 20 officers are on the scene.

It's unclear what brought police to the scene.

Castanet has a reporter heading to the scene.

We'll have more information when it becomes available.
