The Summerland library is encouraging its patrons to come by and pick up a free Christmas holiday craft kit to make at home. 

All supplies needed for the little gnome craft are included, including the fur for the beard, felt for the hat, sock for the body and the nose. Using extra supplies to get creative is encouraged. 

“If you want to accessorize you can add whatever you want to it, we’ve had a few come back already with pompoms, felting or string to make it their own,” said Kayley Robb, assistant community librarian for the Summerland Library.

Crafters are encouraged to post a picture of their completed gnome on the library’s Facebook page. All will be entered to win a gift basket by random draw.

“This is something new and it's more because of COVID we can't have people coming in and doing a craft event here,” Robb explained. 

“But we wanted to still be able to see their creation because that’s some of the best parts for us is to see what they get to make.”

Supplies are limited and the draw for the gift basket winner will take place on Dec. 19, so photos need to be submitted on Facebook before then.
