The province says 656 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours

656 new cases, 16 deaths

British Columbia recorded another 656 cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases since the pandemic was announced to 33,894.

Of those, 8,796 are active. There are 336 people in hospital in BC, 76 of whom are in critical care. Another 10,123 are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

The province also announced another 16 deaths resulting from the virus, bringing the overall number to 457.

The province says 23,774 people have recovered from COVID-19.

"We have had a new health-care facility outbreak at The Harrison at Elim Village. The outbreaks at Holy Family Hospital and Jackman Manor are over. There have been no new community outbreaks," the provincial health office stated in a news release.

Within the Interior Health region, 83 new cases have been confirmed over the past 24 hours, for an overall case count 1,833, of which 535 are active.

Eighteen people are currently in hospital within Interior Health, including four in intensive care.

Earlier in the day, Interior Health announced the cluster in Revelstoke had grown to 46.
