Confirmed case of COVID at Vernon's W.L. Seaton Secondary School

COVID case at Seaton

A case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at a Vernon high school.

A letter was sent to parents of students at W.L. Seaton Secondary School informing them a member of the school community tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the letter, the person attended an extra-curricular activity Nov. 26. The individual did not show any symptoms at that time, but became ill following school activities and was immediately tested.

The letter did not state if the person was staff or a student, but the affected person is isolating at home.

“We are supporting Interior Health Authority as they undertake contact tracing to determine if any other members of our school community were in contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19,” said the letter, signed by school principal Jeff Huggins.

“If you are not contacted by Interior Health, you can continue to attend school. Interior Health is recommending that all students and staff remain vigilant in monitoring for symptoms for COVID-19.”
