Former Disney Channel favourite Peyton Elizabeth Lee has landed the coveted lead in the new Doogie Howser, M.D. revamp.

The Andi Mack star will take on the title character in new show Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. - a re-imagining of the popular 1989 ABC series, featuring Neil Patrick Harris as a problem-solving teen medical expert.

She'll play a 16 year old working as a doctor in modern-day Hawaii.

The wife and son of Doogie Howser, M.D. co-creator and producer Steven Bochco will serve as executive producers.
