RCMP arrest man believed to be involved in an indecent act near two Penticton schools

Arrest made in indecent act

The Penticton RCMP arrested a 32-year-old man involved in multiple indecent acts that took place near two middle schools this week.

On January 19, 21, and 22, a man described as "inappropriately dressed and appeared to be touching his genitals" while in the drivers seat of his red sedan was reported to police.

One incident occurred in the area of KVR Middle School and the other two took place in the neighbourhood of Skaha Middle School.

Based on the consistencies in the descriptions given by witnesses, both plain clothes and uniformed members of the Penticton RCMP heavily patrolled the city and were able to locate the car in a separate location away from schools.

A man was arrested and later released on strict conditions.

"We appreciate that the witnesses took the opportunity to immediately tell their teachers," says S/Sgt Bob Vatamaniuck of the Penticton RCMP.

“The seamless communication between the Schools, School District and RCMP proved beneficial when information was relayed to police who were able to take decisive enforcement action.”

If you witnessed these or any other incidents involving this vehicle, or have any other information, call the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
