“Proudly Selfish” – that certainly says it all. I understand the chances of you yourself dying from COVID are low, and you pointed out that only a handful of people have actually died (only 2.5 million so far, hardly any). But that isn’t the point, is it? Our healthcare system in BC is needed for many things – car accidents, heart attacks, pregnancies, strokes – of course the list of health services is huge and the demand is always there. People do get sick from COVID and require hospitalization – often in the ICU, which has a very limited number of spaces and critical care equipment.
The real point is to not overwhelm our health care system with COVID cases so that regular critical health care can continue, and obviously the way to do that is to limit the spread. So while all the “Proudly Selfish” people try to wreck our health care system through selfish indifference and make the pandemic last as long as possible, the rest of the people of BC, as you say, are losing their livelihoods and dipping into their retirement savings as a result.
Thanks a lot.
