Fined for illegal crabbing

A crab fisherman in Vancouver has been fined and banned from fishing for five years after an illegal harvest in 2018.

Laird Goddyn was found in possession of 89 crabs on June 30, 2018, according to a news release issued by Fisheries and Oceans Canada on Thursday, reports CTV Vancouver.

The legal limit is four.

Goddyn was ordered in May to pay $7,500 in fines.

The investigation into Goddyn started in 2018 and involved both Canadian and American authorities.

RCMP found him with the 89 crabs during an inspection at White Rock’s Elgin Park Marina.
