NOCLS holding online auction full of stuff to do in the Okanagan

Stay-cation items on auction

The NOCLS has put together an online auction loaded with stuff to do right here in the Okanagan.

Darren Bradley, with the North Okanagan Community Life Society, said with the ongoing COVID restrictions, the non-profit decided to go local with its fundraiser.

“Being in the Okanagan Valley and having to stay close to home this summer, we thought we would put together a summer fun, stay-in-your-backyard auction,” said Bradley.

Among the items up for bid is a night's stay at SilverStar Mountain Resort with a bike rental and lift passes.

Other items include boat rentals, skydiving and other goods and services.

“It's all kinds of things you can do in the Valley,” said Bradley.

The auction goes live on the NOCLS website at 8 a.m. June 21.

The money will go back to the NOCLS that “is committed to exploring and developing more socially inclusive personal lifestyle options, and connecting people in the community one person at a time.”

“We have purchased a piece of property and we want to build a purposeful community,” said Bradley.

The plan is to put four duplexes on the East Hill property.

“Two would be for folks that we serve as NOCLS, and the rest would help other people in the community, such as seniors, youths transitioning out of foster care so that we can create a purposeful area,” said Bradley, adding two of the units would be affordable housing for low-income families.

“It is something that is needed.”
