Emergency crews rescued an injured mountain biker in West Kelowna's Smith Creek area Sunday morning

Biker successfully rescued

UPDATE: 11:40 a.m.

The injured mountain biker in West Kelowna's Smith Creek area has been rescued, and they're now being treated by paramedics.

At about 11:20 a.m., firefighters brought the injured biker down to the parking lot area, after the biker had fallen and injured their hip about one kilometre up the trail network.

Fire crews used their side-by-side vehicle to rescue the biker, and the person was loaded into an awaiting ambulance on a stretcher. The extent of their injuries is unknown.

Emergency crews have responded to the Smith Creek area of West Kelowna Sunday morning to rescue an injured mountain biker.

The biker fell just after 10 a.m. Sunday, about a kilometre up the Smith Creek mountain bike trail network, injuring their hip.

West Kelowna Fire Rescue crews are on scene, and firefighters are accessing the injured person using a side-by-side vehicle.

An ambulance is in the parking area waiting to treat the injured person.
