COVID-19 exposure reported at West Kelowna school

New school virus exposure

Interior Health has confirmed another COVID-19 exposure within a school population, this one in West Kelowna.

According to a news release Monday evening, an exposure to the virus was confirmed within Shannon Lake Elementary.

The health authority says, as per protocol, the person is self-isolating at home with support from local health teams.

And, as has been the case throughout the pandemic, there has been no indication whether the individual is a student, teacher or support staff.

"The safety and well-being of students, families and staff members remains our highest priority," the news release from Central Okanagan Public Schools states.

"Public schools will continue to implement the strict health and safety protocols and procedures that are in place so students and staff can continue to attend school as safely as possible."

The school year is set to conclude next week, with the last day of instruction scheduled for Tuesday, June 29.
