Liquor store thief walks off with $4,637 bottle of scotch

$4K bottle of scotch stolen

Police in Oak Bay are investigating the theft of an expensive bottle of single-malt scotch worth more than $4,000.

The bottle of The Macallan No. 6 encased in a Lalique crystal decanter is valued at $4,637.

It was stolen from the Cork & Barrel liquor store Monday afternoon by a man with a tattoo on his left arm. The man was of medium-build and was wearing a blue ball cap, a grey shirt with a logo, black pants and white Adidas running shoes.

The store manager would not comment on whether she thought the man would drink the fine scotch or try to sell it.

The scotch is described as rich and complex with a unique natural colour and character from first fill sherry seasoned oak casks from Spain. “Rich in spice and dried fruit with a layer of heady orange groves, this is an enticing, dark, whiskey that delivers classic Macallan character,” says a website promoting the drink.
