Danger of lifted trucks

I watch people in lifted trucks racing up and down the roads, really crazy on Lakeshore Drive.

I’ve heard of a cyclist getting struck by a truck. The height of the bumper decapitated them so no pain, thank God.

But what happens if a cyclist riding in the painted lane is hit by a lifted truck that is travelling at high speed behind you and - bang - you are dead?

Who pays for your funeral, which could be very serious?

Lifted-truck owners do have insurance as far as I know. But they often can afford expensive lawyers who get them off (because they can’t accept that they are horrible at driving). So if you die from impact, or have to spend the rest of your life as a vegetable, who pays and looks after you?

We really need to have this issue addressed sooner than later.

Unfortunately, many Okanagan boomers believe that sequestered bike lanes are pointless. Looks like that won’t happen anytime soon.
