New roundabout to open this weekend in West Kelowna

Roundabout about to open

West Kelowna motorists rejoice.

The new roundabout at the Gellatly-Carrington Road intersection is nearly complete.

It will reopen permanently to motorists on Thursday, July 29 at approximately 6 p.m.

The city says final landscaping work will continue for the next few weeks with no impact to traffic.

The completion of the project marks the end of extended periodic closures of the busy intersection due to construction.

The $1.32 million Gellatly-Carrington Roundabout Project also includes a three-metre-wide, paved multi-use path between Witt and Boucherie Roads, which is scheduled for completion in September.

The path will create a key connection between Westbank Centre and the waterfront, and includes minor in-stream storm work improvements to Smith Creek.
