City of Vernon spokesperson Christy Poirier said VFRS crew have reported the smoke is now gone.

City of Vernon spokesperson Christy Poirier said Vernon Fire Rescue Services have not received any reports about the smoke, but a crew has been dispatched to look into it.

ORIGINAL 2:55 p.m.

Smoke is reported in the hills above Okanagan Lake on the outskirts of Vernon.

The smoke plume was spotted Friday afternoon, rising from the trees between Eastside Road and Sparkling Hill Resort.

The fire start has been reported to the BC Wildfire Service.
