Second annual toy drive being hosted by Lake Country RCMP

RCMP toy drive returns

The Lake Country RCMP is doing their part to ensure children in need don't go without at Christmas.

The detachment is hosting the second annual Toy Drive for the Lake Country Food Bank.

Donations of new unwrapped toys, or cash, can be dropped off at the Lake Country detachment of the RCMP on Berry Road now through Friday, Dec. 10.

"As we enter another unprecedented year of uncertain times, we are seeking donations of unwrapped new toys for under the tree for children in need," says detachment commander Sgt. John Collins.

"We know this year has been so tough on all of us. We have a great sense of community within Lake Country, and are grateful for the generosity and support in times of need for those that need it most."

The RCMP and Lake Country Food Bank began their partnership in 2012 with the launching of Cram the Cruiser.

The partnership, through the support of local businesses, has raised more than 14,500 pounds of donated items, 235 unwrapped gifts and better than $50,000 in cash for the food bank.

All donations through Dec. 10 will be handed over to the Lake Country Food Bank.
