Penticton Vees dominate Cranbrook Bucks in eighth-straight win

Vees win eighth straight

The Penticton Vees continued their winning ways Friday night, notching their eighth win in a row against the Cranbrook Bucks at home.

The Vees put on a strong performance on Teddy Bear Night at the South Okanagan Events Centre, taking out the Bucks 7-1.

The teddy bears flew early, after Brett Moravec grabbed the first goal of the game just 1:41 into the first period.

The bears were scooped off the ice and handed over to the Salvation Army, which will distribute them to families in need over the holidays.

Once the ice was cleared, the Vees got back to work, with Moravec netting his second of the game and Jackson Nieuwendyk scoring the Vees third before the end of the first period.

The Vees' offence continued through the second, with three more goals throughout the frame, before the Bucks' Zeth Kindrachuk broke Vees' netminder Kaeden Lane's shutout aspirations just before the end of the second.

Spencer Smith put in the Vees seventh of the game 1:41 into the third, resulting in a final score of 7-1.

With a record of 16-2, the Vees remain in first place in the Interior division of the BCHL. They return to action Saturday night at home against the eighth place Wenatchee Wild.
