Warriors drop fourth in a row, 5-2 in Salmon Arm

Things seem to be going from bad to worse for the West Kelowna Warriors.

The Warriors dropped their fourth in a row Sunday, a 5-2 setback in Salmon Arm.

In the process, they lost three more bodies, one to injury and two via ejection.

With the game scoreless early in the first, forward Riley Sharun was assessed a major penalty and a game misconduct for a high hit that sent Salmon Arm's Nathan Morin to the dressing room.

Several minutes later, a hit head coach Simon Ferguson said after the game resembled the one delivered by Sharun was let go.

The hit by Noah Serdachny on Tyler Rubin sent the Warrior defenceman to the dressing room with what the team called an upper body injury. He didn't return.

Defenceman Charles-Alexis Legault dropped the gloves in defence of his teammate. Serdachny did not reciprocate.

As a result, Legault was handed two minor penalties, a fighting major and a game misconduct.

While Serdachny got the Silverbacks on the board on the initial penalty to Sharun, the Warriors were able to kill off all nine minutes assessed to Legault.

Simon Tassy doubled the lead on a shorthanded breakaway midway through the second before Carter Schmidt pulled the Warriors back to within one.

Isaac Lambert and Tassy again built the lead to three after 40 minutes.

Captain Elan Bar Lev Wise pulled the Warriors to within two, but an empty net goal with a little more than to minutes sealed it.

"We worked hard all weekend," said Ferguson, who saw his team come away with nothing to show for a pair of games against the division leading Silverbacks.

The Warriors will get Tyler Cristall back from suspension for Friday's game against the Merritt Centennials

However, forward Chase Defoe has one more game to serve, and Sharun will likely be hit with a suspension for his hit. Legault may also have his situation reviewed.

The Warriors are off until Friday's home game with the Centennials.
