Some Kamloops gas stations surpass $2 per litre threshold as prices surge across B.C.

Gas prices top $2 per litre

Gas prices in Kamloops are topping $2 per litre at some retailers.

Petro-Canada stations on the North Shore, in Valleyview and downtown crossed the $2 threshold on Monday, showing a posted price of $204.9 per litre of regular gasoline on Monday evening.

Late Monday night, the vast majority of gas stations in Kamloops were still in the mid $1.90s per litre of regular.

After hovering in February in the $1.50s and then the $1.70s, Kamloops gas prices shot up during the first week of March to the mid-$1.90s. Most retailers had fallen back into the $1.80s by the time prices began to surge again in recent days.

According to GasBuddy.com, the average price for a litre of gasoline in B.C. is slightly less than $2.07. The most expensive gas in B.C. can be found in Chilliwack, where a litre of regular will cost you almost $2.40 at some retailers.

As of Monday night, the cheapest gasoline in Kamloops is 194.9 cents per litre — a price that can be found at many city gas stations.
