GoFundMe started to cover funeral costs for Chelsea Cardno

A GoFundMe has been started to help cover funeral costs for Chelsea Cardno.

Her body was found Friday in a field adjacent to Mission Creek after she went missing June 14 while walking her dog JJ upstream while the creek was flooding.

"The missing dog has not been located and presumed to have been swept away in Mission Creek," Const. Mike Della-Paolera said.

On Monday afternoon, Cardno's cousin Tanya Rudolph shared the fundraiser to Facebook.

"Chelsea was known for her infectious laugh and a smile that lit up the room. She was outgoing, loving, caring, and simply a joy to be around. She didn't give a second thought to offering help to others and will be missed dearly by those she's left behind."

"We want to give Chelsea the memorial she deserves, honour her memory and say our last goodbyes. With that being said, I am asking for donations to help cover the costs to get some of Chelsea's loved ones who live abroad to Canada to be able to attend her Celebration of life," Rudolph wrote.

The GoFundMe has a $15,000 goal.

"Should any funds remain, they will be donated to the Central Okanagan Search and rescue as a thank you for the tremendous support they provided the Cardno family in helping locate Chelsea and to the SPCA because nothing meant more to Chelsea than the animals."
