Police have located the vehicle belonging to a missing Penticton woman with dementia.

On Saturday evening, Penticton RCMP found Doreen Abbott's vehicle near 1425 Greyback Mountain Road.

Police say it appears Abbott, who was most likely unfamiliar with the area, traveled up the road and got her vehicle stuck in snowy conditions.

"An extensive search has been done in the area by Penticton Search and Rescue and RCMP, utilizing both land and air resources; both last night and during daytime hours today. At this time, Doreen’s whereabouts continue to be unknown," Sgt. Laurie Rock

Penticton RCMP are requesting that people in the area continue to keep an eye out for Abbott and check properties and any buildings.

Abbott is described as 89 years-old, five-foot-three,120 pounds with a thin build. She wears glasses and normally walks with a cane.

If the public has any information you are asked to contact Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
