Reconciliation 'disaster'

Re. Reconciliation falters (Castanet, May 11)

/news/BC/486975/B-C-s-support-for-reconciliation-falters#486975, B.C.'s support for reconciliation falters, May 11, 2024.

There are some very good reasons why the reconciliation process has evolved into a massive disaster.

Much of the legislation proposed by B.C.'s NDP government makes very little sense, and serves only a few select people.

Premier David Eby has severely undermined the spirit and intent of the UNDRIP protocols, that Indigenous people must have the same rights and opportunities as all other Canadians, not as an opportunity to segregate people for special rights and considerations, like exclusive rights to veto land use and resource development.

That 94% of British Columbians were not consulted on any of that "one-sided" legislation is nothing but an incredible insult.

The are two parts to truth and reconciliation. Without the truth, reconciliation will never happen. Eby has disconnected from the real world on this issue.
