Witnesses sought in fatal crash

Police are looking for the drivers of a red car and black pickup who may have witnessed a fatal crash last week.

The Feb. 17. collision killed a 22-year-old pedestrian near the campus of BCIT.

Shiloh Johnston of Coquitlam was struck when a white Infiniti and a grey Volkswagen collided on Canada Way, sending the Infiniti across two lanes of traffic and throwing Johnston 13 metres. She suffered traumatic head injuries and could not be saved at Royal Columbian Hospital.

RCMP identified the two possible witness vehicles from surveillance video of the area. They believe speed may have been a factor in the crash.

One vehicle appears to be a red Mustang that was leaving the northwest BCIT parking lot; the other is a black full-size pickup that was travelling on Canada Way.

Police hope the drivers will come forward with information about the crash. Anyone who witnessed it is asked to call RCMP Traffic Services at 604-294-7922.
