The B.C. Conservation Officer Service believe a bear that attacked two women walking on a forest service road near Prince George was acting in self defence.
The attack Tuesday sent two women to hospital with minor injuries.
“CO’s believe this was a defensive attack,” BCCOS said in an update Thursday. “Two women were walking in a remote area near Prince George when one of their dogs startled a bear that was eating.”
As a result, conservation officers are not attempting to capture the bear.
