A woman is safe after being pinned underneath her car overnight, all thanks to a resident who heard her cries for help on Monday morning.
On June 22, at 8:45 a.m., Kaslo RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle incident near Davidson Street, where a resident heard a woman cry for help while he was out walking his dog.
He found an injured woman pinned underneath a grey Kia Forte, resting against trees about 15 feet down an embankment.
Investigators determined the motorist attempted to push her own vehicle off the roadway after running out of fuel. She lost control of the vehicle as she was maneuvering the car on her own and became trapped. The incident occurred at approximately 8 p.m. the night prior.
"RCMP wishes to commend the resident for responding to the victim's cries for assistance," states Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey, spokesman for the RCMP Southeast District. Doing so likely saved the woman's life.
The injured woman was transported to the hospital for medical treatment by BC Emergency Health Services and was reportedly airlifted to a regional hospital due to the severity of her injuries.
She suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.
Anyone who may have witnessed anything is asked to contact Kaslo RCMP at 250-353-2225.
