Police investigating murder downtown Prince George

Police are investigating the homicide of a 26-year-old woman who was stabbed on Thursday night.

At approximately 10 p.m. police received a report of a stabbing in the 300-block of George Street, in front of the Prince George Courthouse.

Officers found the victim suffering from at least one stab wound and administered first aid until paramedics arrived, an RCMP statement issued on Friday said. The woman was taken to the University Hospital of Northern B.C. for treatment, where she died of her injuries early Friday morning.

Prince George RCMP's Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation, which is still in the early stages.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the stabbing or has any information to call 250-561-3300. Tips can also be made anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
