An RCMP officer in Trail has been charged with several offences, alleged to have occurred over a period of more than three years.
On Wednesday, the BC Prosecution Service announced charges have been laid against Const. Steven Allan Murchie. The charges include breach of trust in connection with the duties of his office, criminal harassment, and forcible entry.
Dan McLaughlin, communications counsel with the BC Prosecution Service, says the officer's misconduct is alleged to have occurred between January 2017 and May 2020, against two particular people.
McLaughlin did not provide any further detail about the nature of the allegations against the officer.
The charges were sworn last Friday, and Const. Murchie's next court appearance is set for Sept. 17.
