The Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of BC has been called to 100 Mile House.
The police watchdog is investigating a death that happened around 5:20 p.m. on June 27.
On June 25, Mounties responded to a call about a theft in progress; a man and a woman were arrested without incident, according to a news release.
The man was released on June 26 and was provided transportation to a nearby shelter. The following day, in the late afternoon, the man was found dead in his room.
Local RCMP have ruled out foul play in his death, notes the release.
The IIO will look to determine what role, if any, the officers' actions or inactions may have played in the man's death.
The BC Coroners Service is also investigating to determine the cause and any contributing factors.
