Rocky Mountain Adventure Park finishes first phase of construction

Highest bridges completed

The first phase of construction is complete on a new 100-acre adventure park near Golden.

The Rocky Mountain Adventure Park broke ground in April and after the finishing touches next spring plans to open in May 2021.

Located in the Hospital Creek canyon, the tourist attraction includes the the highest suspension bridges in Canada, a canyon swing, treefort playground, walking trails and food and entertainment plaza.

“We felt that there was a void in our market which initiated a group of us to get together and create a world class attraction that would appeal to a very broad spectrum of visitors consisting of family adventurers and the traveling public,” said President and co-founder, Paul Deutsch.

“After years of planning we couldn’t be more excited to be wrapping up construction and focusing on opening. I couldn’t be more proud of our team and their work they have completed throughout the year. Our partnership team is investing heavily over the next few years to complete and build out our master plan which will add many more attractions and amenities to the park.”

The anchor attraction of the park are two scenic twin suspension bridges strung 130 metres and 80 metres above the Hospital Creek canyon that provide panoramic views of the Columbia Valley and mountains ranges.

Adrenaline seekers can jump aboard a large double-seat canyon swing. The two person system will pendulum you and a partner 350 feet through the heart of Hospital Creek Canyon.

The park says it relied on local labour and suppliers whenever possible throughout construction.

“We are expected to employ about 35 local summer seasonal staff our first year, with our opening in May of 2021. As we build out our phase two investment, we will turn into a year round operation, and in turn, those 35 seasonal jobs will become full-time year round employment, by 2023 furthering our economic impact or our community,” Deutsch said.
