'Stoner Patch' gummies send 5 children to hospital and prompt warning

5 kids sent to hospital

A close call sent several children to hospital in Victoria.

CTV News Vancouver Island is reporting that five children, all under the age of 10 were taken to hospital
after reportedly eating THC gummies.

Police found a bag with the name "Stoner Patch" printed on the wrapper after the children’s parents discovered the kids had found a bag of cannabis-infused candy while playing in a room and ate its contents.

The bag of “Stoner Patch” watermelon gummies contained 500 milligrams of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis.

Police are investigating after the children were admitted to Victoria General Hospital on Friday after their parents reported the children acting strangely at a barbecue.

Parents called 911 and police are not proceeding with charges but are reminding cannabis users to secure products and keep them out of the reach of children.
