Mother bear and her cub play in the water and on greens at Trickle Creek G C&C

Mother and cub water fight

A Kelowna woman had an up-close and personal encounter with a mother bear and her cub in Kimberley B.C. recently.

Not the nasty kind, Emily Fralick tells Castanet she was golfing Trickle Creek Golf Course in Kimberley, B.C. this week when her group spotted a mother and her cub playing by the water.

"We were on the 14th hole, it was very cool. It was right by a little lake right by the hole when we saw them."

On the video you can hear some of Fralick's golf partners worrying about the pace of play as she was happily enjoying the rare moment, watching a mother bear play with her cub, "pace of play," but you can hear Fralick say, "I'm skipping this hole."

"We first thought they were fighting but it quickly became clear that they were playing in the water," Fralick says.

Another golfer, Duane Laskowski, captured a video of the pair playing on one of the greens and other golfers have reported seeing the pair on the course.

A post on the course's Facebook page says, "there is always some sort of entertainment at the course!"
