Environment Canada issues storm warning for Rogers, Kootenay passes

Snowfall warning in Pass

As the coast and Lower Mainland continue to cope with heavy rainfall, snow is falling in some of the mountain passes in the south and central Interior.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for:

  • Highway 3 - Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass
  • Trans-Canada Highway - Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass

Heavy snow continues today along Highway 3 from Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass with an additional 10 cm expected. The heavy snow is expected to ease this afternoon.

A special weather statement has been issued for the Coquihalla Highway - Hope to Merritt with more rain in the forecast.

Environment Canada is calling for heavy rain Saturday night and Sunday with potential impacts to vulnerable landscape and infrastructure, with 40 to 60 mm of rain expected to fall on the weekend. Another front will approach the south coast on Saturday with rain beginning Saturday afternoon, becoming heavy Saturday night.
