Environment Canada issues fog advisory for Okanagan Valley

Fog advisory issued

Environment Canada has issued a fog advisory for the entire Okanagan Valley, including Kelowna, Penticton and Vernon.

The advisory also extends into the Kootenays, Shuswap and Boundary region and brings reduced visibility in some parts, including highways.

The fog advisory is expected to remain in effect for Saturday and Saturday night into Sunday morning.

"Fog and low cloud have developed through the interior valleys as a ridge of high pressure builds over the province. Visibility will start to improve (Saturday) morning for most regions. However, foggy conditions with reduced visibilities are expected to return tonight into Sunday morning," states Environment Canada.

The advisory indicates that visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero. Drivers are advised to turn on vehicle lights and maintain a safe following distance.
