A 65-year-old Alberta man is dead after colliding with a tree while skiing at Fernie Alpine Resort on the weekend.
The News Photographers Association of Canada is reporting that former photographer with the Windsor Star and the Calgary Herald, Ted Rhodes, was skiing with a friend Saturday afternoon when he lost control and struck a tree.

Rhodes, 65, was skiing with a friend at Fernie Alpine Resort when he hit an icy stretch, lost control and struck a tree. (1/5) pic.twitter.com/wDkEb2v6mu
Fernie Alpine Resort officials indicate the incident took place in an advanced ski terrain area and Rhodes was taken to the Elk Valley Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.
