Interior Health has issued a drug alert for the Nelson area, after a sample of methamphetamine recently tested positive for fentanyl and benzodiazepine.
IH issued the alert Friday, warning that some drugs samples sold as methamphetamine in the Nelson area contain fentanyl, benzodiazepine and caffeine. The alert is in effect until April 29.
The samples are described as clear/white shards, crystals and powder.
Interior Health recommends those using drugs should get their drugs checked before using, and to never use alone. Those using should also carry naloxone, to help prevent overdose.
